Three very important timeframes for Medicare beneficiaries are Initial Enrollment Period (IEP), Annual Enrollment (AEP), and Open Enrollment Period (OEP).

IEP stands for Initial Enrollment Period and is the seven month window that beneficiaries have when they are first turning 65, to enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan.

AEP stands for Annual Enrollment Period and runs from October 15 through December 7.

OEP stands for Open Enrollment Period and is a different timeframe for Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement.
